SummitKey
SummitKey is a purpose built multi-tool designed specifically for snowboarders and the unique challenges they encounter on the mountain. The project began with the idea that riders often need to make quick adjustments, repairs, or equipment changes throughout the day, yet carrying multiple individual tools is inconvenient and adds unnecessary bulk to their gear. SummitKey explores how these essential functions could be consolidated into a single, compact tool that is easy to carry and accessible when needed.

Process
The design process focused on understanding the needs and habits of snowboarders and translating those needs into a practical, multifunctional product. Rather than adapting a traditional multi-tool to snowboarding, SummitKey was conceived specifically around snowboard equipment and the situations riders encounter before, during, and after a day on the mountain. The project considered portability, ergonomics, ease of use, and the ability to combine multiple functions within a compact form while maintaining a strong visual identity.

Outcome
The final outcome of SummitKey was a compact, snowboard specific multi-tool that was CNC machined and brought several essential functions into a single portable product. The design was developed to be practical in a mountain environment while remaining easy to carry and intuitive to use. By focusing specifically on the needs of snowboarders, SummitKey transformed the traditional multi-tool into a dedicated piece of riding equipment, providing a convenient solution for on-mountain adjustments and minor repairs. The project demonstrated how user focused research and product design can turn a common tool into a more specialized and purposeful experience.
